Memories of our village in the ‘early days’ showed that it didn’t look so attractive as it does now. Villagers were inclined to have vegetables, chickens, and pigs in their gardens, more than mown-striped lawns and herbaceous and flower borders. Also the village street was a lane used by carts and horses and cows, with grass growing along the middle, wheel-ruts at the sides, and muddy puddles.
